Our Impact
DailyCare's impact on hospital length of stay and placement wait times was independently validated by CSIRO's Australian e-Health Research Centre through the CSIRO Kick Starter Program. The study was conducted using Melbourne Health patient data, measuring outcomes before and after DailyCare was implemented.
Key findings
- 26%reduction in time spent waiting for care post-assessment through to discharge
- 16%overall length-of-stay reduction
- 88,505patient bed days that could be freed per annum nationally (2021-22 projection)
- $105.9million in estimated annual cost savings (2021-22 projection)
From the CSIRO report
The study measured patient outcomes before and after DailyCare was implemented, focusing on those assessed by ACAS (Aged Care Assessment Services) for residential care on-site.
"The study found that hospital length of stay after ACAS assessment was reduced by 26.0% in the period when the digital solution was used. A preliminary economic assessment based on the number of patients who were waiting for residential aged care nationally across the country in 2021–22 suggests that the adoption of a solution like DailyCare would free up to 88,805 patient bed days in Australian hospitals."
What this means for hospitals
Fewer days spent waiting for a placement means more beds available for incoming patients, reduced pressure on discharge teams, and better outcomes for patients who are medically ready to leave hospital.
What this means for providers
A faster, more structured referral pathway means providers receive enquiries from hospital discharge teams sooner, and with the patient's clinical needs already assessed, reducing the back-and-forth that can delay admissions.
