Some general info on the suburb of Redfern
Less than three kilometres from the City, Redfern continues to rise as it goes on with its gentrification. The modern developments combined with streets lined with Victorian-era houses give the area a unique feel, which is both appealing to locals and visitors.
Located near to the City, an airport, and well serviced by a bus network, going to Redfern is not a problem. Redfern now also enjoys a modern lifestyle as local cafes, restaurants, and bars operate in the area, along with supermarkets and other stores for daily necessities.
As a suburb still in development, an area called “The Block” is known to locals as a block being developed for a gymnasium, affordable housing, retail spaces, commercial spaces, childcare space, a gallery, and others. The project started last 2004, and is known as the Pemulwuuy project.
Being one of the oldest suburbs in Sydney, Redfern has been a location for different shows set on the Victorian-era. Even with the developments, it has retained some of its historic architecture, made even more interesting with a mix of modern atmosphere.
Today, with its historic architecture combined with modern renovations, arts and food scene, boredom is the last thing you’ll find in Redfern.
