St Catherines, for your wellbeing and specialised care.

VMCH St Catherine’s Balwyn

St Catherine’s by VMCH is a highly regarded Catholic aged care home located in the City of Boroondara, with many residents from Balwyn and surrounding suburbs.

Our community is built on strong Catholic values, offering daily opportunities for spiritual growth and connection through religious services, prayers, and pastoral care. While our Catholic foundation is central to life at St Catherine’s, we warmly welcome residents of all faiths and backgrounds.

Nestled in a quiet residential street overlooking parklands, St Catherine’s is peaceful and private. Our nursing home has been lovingly renovated, extended, and refurbished, while honouring the heritage of the original Balwyn homestead, built in 1904.

St Catherine’s offers 77 spacious rooms, as well as an additional 18 rooms in our Memory Support Unit (MSU), where we provide specialised dementia care.

Our home is fully accredited by the Aged Care Quality Standards, ensuring you receive the highest level of care.

VMCH welcomes and encourages families to consider a respite stay.

VMCH staff are expertly trained to support individuals as they move in and recognise that a move into residential aged care can trigger a sense of worry or grief. For some residents, being introduced to like-minded residents can help. For others, having some alone time and privacy can help them adjust to the changes happening in their lives.

VMCH staff understand how important it is to be aware of what each new resident may need in terms of social connection or space, and that needs can change over time.
